CLASS DESCRIPTION
Hatha Yoga - Yoga means "to yoke or join". It
is an ancient science of body-mind-spiritual health originating
in India which can be practiced regardless of physical condition
or religious belief. Yoga promotes a harmonizing of fragmented
parts of ourselves and a harmony with the world around us.
Benefits of yoga include increased flexibility, strength
and balance; prevention and healing of injuries and stress
related disorders; mental concentration and calm, relaxation,
and deeper sense of inner peace.
Shan teaches the alignment of the Iyengar method, which
emphasizes precision and the use of props to achieve the
correct alignment and the most efficiency from the postures. Seth teaches the Anusara method, which emphasizes a heart-felt approach to attitude and alignment.
Classes include stretching postures (asanas), breathing
practices (pranayama), and relaxation.
